Processing
Stations

Coffee stations in Ethiopia are a vital part of the country’s coffee industry. They are where coffee beans are processed and prepared for export.

Coffee stations typically have three main stages:

  • Reception: This is where the coffee beans are received from the farmers. The beans are inspected for quality and then weighed.
  • Processing: This is where the coffee beans are processed. The beans are first pulped to remove the outer layer. The beans are then fermented for a short period of time, which helps to remove the mucilage layer. After fermentation, the beans are washed and dried.
  • Grading: This is where the coffee beans are graded according to quality. The beans are sorted by size, color, and defect level. The highest quality beans are sold for the highest price.

Once the coffee beans have been processed and graded, they are packed and shipped to buyers around the world.

Nardos Coffee has several stations throughout Ethiopia.

Our Farm

We are a third-generation, family-run coffee business, with heritage tracing back to the 1960s when our family began farming in the Oromia region of Ethiopia.

Guji coffee
Named after a tribe of the Guji people, Guji coffee is grown in two of the Guji zones in southern part of the Oromia region, Ethiopia. Guji coffee used to be part of the Sidama coffee before its unique flavor was identified. But now, it doesn’t only stands by itself but also is a favorite coffee for many coffee gurus and coffee lovers. Guji coffee comes with many popular brands such as Hambella, Uraga, Shakiso, Sakicha that has their own respective distinct characteristics. Some of the classic characteristics are bright acidity, full body, Floral, Buttery, Spicy like Rue, Black Cardamom, Fruity like Strawberry.
Yirgacheffe Coffee
Yirgacheffe is home to the most elusive and complex profiles Ethiopia has to offer. This is the reason why this small zone has carved a profile for itself so well within the global coffee market. Yirgacheffe coffee is much sought after for its bright point citric acidity. It’s well-bodied, balanced cup of mocha combined with flowery, spicy elements and an array of fruity flavours gives it a layered and complex wheel of taste. Yirgacheffe is renowned for its washed coffees but is gaining reputation with fruity balanced naturals, as well.
